Mtunzini Fun Fact: In 2009, Mtunzini became a landing point for the SEACOM cable, and in 2010 Mtunzini became the landing point for the EASSy cable. As the first private subsea cable operator in Africa, SEACOM partnered with Neotel and landed the SEACOM cable system at as Neotel’s Mtunzini cable landing station in South Africa in 2009. Neotel provides backhaul from the Mtunzini CLS to Durban switch and Neotel data centre in Midrand, Johannesburg, with about 590km. Neotel data centre in Midrand provides access to any licensed network operator to form an open access to SEACOM cable system.
