According to the clever people, we’re halfway through winter! Winter solstice will happen on Monday 21 June 2021. Roll on summer!

We have had a particularly important visitor in Zini on Monday 17 May. His Worship Mayor Dlamini, Municipal Manager Mnguni and all the surrounding Ward Councilors came together in Zini for a hands-on cleanup roadshow! Dressed in overalls, not deterred by the cold rainy day, Mayor Dlamini and the crew of Councilors got stuck in and cleared out storm water drains! What a great example Mayor Dlamini is setting for the local Government. Well done to you Sir!

Whilst we’re on the subject of cleaning, how amazing are our Zini residents, stepping up and taking responsibility for their neighborhoods and streets? Many of our Main Street business owners have also got stuck in and cleaned up palm fronds and rubbish littering Hely Hutchinson. Well done and thank you! Every bit helps and the village is looking pretty good.

There are many parts of our village than can do with some serious improvements, one of those being the Post Office. Sadly, the South African Postal Service is just about on the brink of collapse and is not spending any money on maintaining or beautifying its buildings. Many residents have asked for something to be done and we are going to do our best to make it happen.  However, we’ll need your help. It’s a big project and can’t be done without the Mtunzini residents rallying together for some serious crowd funding. Please contact Di Fahn on 083 656 2077 or Bernice on 072 369 3469 for more information on how you can help.

These project funds, along with all the MRA’s financial needs are now being managed by NV Accounting Solutions, right here in Zini, from the 1st of June. Thanks to Nicolien and Vicky for taking us on as their clients!

In other news, Eskom has advised us that they have committed to appointing a contractor to take over the maintenance of our streetlights. All we can do is hope it happens before the 7th wave of Covid!

Take care out there!
